We will arrive in beautiful Dakar, Senegal and check into the beautiful luxury villa, where you can settle into your rooms, get cosy and have an early night, or take a moment to freshen up before we head out to a local spot for a quick nightcap and catch up.

We’ll start our day with a ferry to historic Goree Island, a symbol of resilience and history. We’ll visit the House of Slaves and stroll through colorful colonial streets and have a moment for discussion and reflection on all we see and hear during our experience.

We’ll savor a seaside lunch at Chevalier de Boufflers with stunning ocean views and take part in a book swap and talk about the books we've brought with us to enjoy on the trip.

Start the day with a dive into the vibrant city of Dakar! Visit the iconic African Renaissance Monument and explore bustling markets and local museums. Enjoy a traditional Senegalese lunch at Le Ngor, offering delicious local cuisine with an ocean backdrop. For the evening, join an optional group dinner at the lively The Jungle, where the culture comes alive with music and cuisine.

Start the day with an enriching cultural experience at the Museum of Black Civilisations, where you'll explore Africa’s profound contributions to global heritage through historical artifacts, contemporary art, and cultural exhibitions. Next, visit the IFAN Museum of African Arts, one of West Africa’s oldest museums, renowned for its impressive collection of traditional African masks, sculptures, and textiles from various ethnic groups. After an inspiring morning, enjoy a delicious lunch at Restaurant Le Bazoff. Then head to the market to explore and shop!

Wrap up your day with a refined dinner experience at Delya Restaurant, offering a sophisticated setting and exquisite dishes, perfect for a memorable evening in Dakar while we continue the bookish discussion.

Begin with a breakfast at a local spot in the neighborhood then head to Ngor Island Beach for a day of sun and book club fun + a little relaxation. Swim, sunbathe, and we’ll discuss our book club pick. As the sun sets, gather for a group dinner at Ayoka Dakar, a beautiful beachfront spot offering fresh seafood and continue the bookish discussion.

We want to give everyone some time to recoup and take a moment to relax. The Casual Readers Club team will be making visits to some local book shops and libraries and you’re welcome to join or you can spend the day at the beach or doing another activity of your choosing.

Begin with a breakfast at a local spot in the neighborhood, then you have the opportunity to go shopping again for treasures at Dakar’s colorful markets. Collect unique souvenirs and experience the vibrant local culture. In the evening, celebrate your unforgettable journey with a Farewell Dinner at Seven Seven Dakar, where live music and a festive atmosphere bring your week to a perfect close.

The trip is almost at an end, get your bags packed and ready to head to the airport, but first let's have a final brunch at Lagon 1. We'll have free time in the afternoon for everyone to get any final activities in and get to the airport in time for your journey home.
